Discovering the Private NASA Beach House for Astronauts

in Education

As a tradition, the astronauts of the last Space Shuttle mission will spend their final days relaxing at a private beach house in which is a mile away the NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida as hidden retreat before blast-off. The crew members may spend time with wife and family and take part in pre-flight barbeques. The former astronaut Mike Mullane and three-time Shuttle astronaut Pat Melroy have described the house as “It is a significant place in the life of astronauts.” and “The best part really is being able to walk along the beach, because I think seeing the ocean satisfies some part of you that, you are seeing the earth.” respectively.
