Education Grants: Helping Moms Achieve Success

in Education
One of the best indicators of success in life is the level of education a person has. Some groups lack quality education resources and some simply don't take advantage of those resources. Helping single and working mothers gain education is one way to help prevent the cycle from repeating. One important program that is seeking to help women is the education Grants for Moms program. Started by President Obama in 2009, the grants for mothers are aimed at getting working, stay at home and single mothers to get enrolled in colleges and universities. The program draws funds from the federal Pell Grant allotment and awards as much as $5,000 per person. The $5,000 can go toward paying for tuition and books or for childcare during class hours. With the Grants for Moms program many obstacles to higher education are thankfully taken away. Diversity is an important word as it relates to the list of acceptable majors. There are very few restrictions in place that would prohibit a mother from studying what interests her. Whether it's a focus on industry or art, there are many study programs that can provide the education for a steady career. If you are willing to take some chances, you may find success in places you didn't expect. Moms and anyone looking forward to a successful future can only prepare themselves now. There are many online resources that can help with career research. The Occupational Outlook Handbook is one trusted resource. Produced by the Department of Labor, the OOH is valuable resource to research many areas of employment. These industry projections are done on a 10-year scale. CareerOneStop is another federal resource. Often regular search engines can lead to avenues of trusted information. Oftentimes there are patterns in the information that is available that can provide hints about what career choices are most viable. A slow economy shouldn't slow down the pursuit of education. For those who are able, now is a perfect time to gain knowledge that will be beneficial to job development. As long as women bare the brunt of tough financial times it's important to provide resources to help them cope. The education grants for moms do just that.
