The winners of the international Travel Photographer of the Year 2011 competition have been announced. Especially, Louis Montrose of San Diego was named the Travel Photographer of the Year for his portfolio including spectacular photos of life in a painted village in Burkino Faso and the Day of the Dead festival in Oaxaca, Mexico. This year's international panel of judges included travel and wildlife photographer Steve Bloom, Conde Nast's director of photography Caroline Metcalfe, and travel photographer Chris Coe among many others. This year's exhibition welcomed over 16,000 visitors.

Selected from thousands of entries to win the Travel Photographer of the Year Award 2011, Louis Montrose's images helped him win “two striking, and very different, portfolios; one documenting life in a painted village in Burkina Faso and the other depicting the Dia de los Muertos Festival in Oaxaca, Mexico”. Interestingly, the Young Travel Photographer of the Year award was 17-year-old German photographer Arne Hansen for his portfolio characterizing the physical impact of travel on nature whist 17 year-old British photographer, Joel Biddle, took the honors in Young TPOTY 15-18, and also won the TPOTY/Young Photographers Alliance Emerging Talent Award, for his abstract images on the category theme of "green". In addition, Italy's Edgard de Bono won the New Talent award. The winner of 2010 international Travel Photographer of the Year is Larry Louie from Canada.
